Eighteen homogeneous groupings of art and objects from the Verona collections, from archaeological relics to medieval and modern painting and sculpture, to ethnographic objects.
[Collections returned to the museums of Verona] An unusual initiative has reunited and presented to the public 18 homogeneous groups of artworks and objects from Veronese collections, donated to or acquired by the city’s museums over the course of two centuries, initially held in Palazzo Pompei, later distributed between the Archaeological Museum at the Teatro Romano and the Museum of Castelvecchio.
The nuclei of objects are presented in the catalogue in various sections: figured terracotta, antique lamps, Apulian ceramics, Roman glass, antique bronze vases, Roman decorated slabs, medieval sculpture, frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries, paintings on lydite, paintings on copper, ceramics of the 15th and 16th centuries, small Renaissance bronzes, Napoleonic medals, medals of Francesco Puttinati, plaster works by Alessandro Puttinati, weapons of the 16th and 17th centuries, firearms of the 18th and 19th centuries, African musical instruments.
