[Massimo and Gabriella Carmassi. Works and projects]. A thorough monograph on the work of two protagonists of the Italian architecture scene. A selection of projects and restorations revealing forceful, modern modes of expression and perceptive interpretation of the stratifications of the historical city. The volume retraces the phases of the career of Gabriella and Massimo Carmassi, selecting the most important works, including the daycare center at San Marco, Pisa (1975-81), the restoration of Palazzo Lanfranchi (1976-80) and Teatro Verdi (1986-90) in Pisa. The works of the last decade are examined in even greater detail, including the reconstruction of the complex of San Michele in Borgo in Pisa (1979-2002), the major restoration project for the medieval walls of Pisa (1979-98), the library of Senigallia (1995-2000), the vertical access system for the historical center of Fermo (2000-2002), the organization of the museum of religious art of San Frediano in Lucca (2002), the restoration of Palazzo Gonzaga in Guastalla (2003). Massimo Carmassi is now a special professor of architectural design at the University Architecture Institute of Venice.
