For the first time in Italy a wide selection of autograph drawings, vintage photographs, pieces of design and models illustrating all the phases in Loos' career.

The work presents the figure of an intellectual who became part of Western culture not only for the buildings he created, but also for the tenacity with which he promoted a total reformation of contemporary man’s lifestyle. Although his notoriety, no monographic exhibitions have ever been organized in Italy up to now. The National Gallery of Modern Art, in collaboration with DARC and the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome, for the first time gives Italian public the chance to study in depth his work. Loos worked out solutions characterized by strong visual impact, solutions that unfortunately were destined to remain only on paper. What the architect realized were many bars and shops, whose elegance and constructive quality still represents strong foundations for last century interior design. Most of these works, which were destroyed or ruined, will be documented by means of vintage photographs and pieces of design.
