This journey back in time offers a totally new cognitive and emotional experience via technology applied to cultural assets.
The reopened Domus Aurea worksite features innovative multimedia applications that enhance the scientific appreciation of the restoration works.
In an addition to the experience of previous years, it now includes site-specific immersive reality and video narration. Visitor enjoyment is boosted by multimedia installations exploiting cutting-edge technology such as video mapping on large surfaces and virtual reality.
The two new features appear along the 12-stage guided tour of the Domus Aurea works:
– An engaging film on the history of the Domus Aurea in the entrance gallery
– A virtual reality installation in the Sala della Volta Dorata
It’s now possible to see the Domus Aurea as never before, immersed in Nero’s 1st-century AD palace with its original spaces, portico, sumptuous rooms, garden and the view of the Palatine Hill. The scientific-boost project is promoted by the Soprintendenza Speciale per il Colosseo e l’Area Archeologica Centrale di Roma in conjunction with Electa.
