Luigi Gallo

Luigi Gallo graduated from La Sapienza University in Rome and went on the complete his PhD at the Sorbonne in Paris. Since September 2020, he has been Director of the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche in Urbino and of the Direzione Regionale Musei Marche. He has worked as an editor and curator at the Scuderie del Quirinale and as an art historian for the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. He teaches Writing for Art at the School of Specialisation in Art History at La Sapienza University.
His research spans the history of landscape painting, gardens and modern architecture, collecting, art theory and criticism between the 18th and 20th centuries, together with the protection and promotion of cultural heritage.
