André Gunthert, storico dell'arte, ricercatore ed editore, insegna presso l'ècole des hautes en sciences sociales di Parigi, dove ha creato il Laboratoire d'histoire visuelle contemporaine. È vicepresidente della Société française de Photographie e fondatore della rivista "Etudes photographiques". È l'autore di L'Instant rêvé, Albert Londe (1993), La Révolution de la photographie instantanée (1996) e Voir, ne pas voir la guerre (2001).
