A catalogue of Apuan sculpture from the 1400s and 1500s, the result of research conducted in the territory of the ancient diocese of Luni, accompanied by analysis of the archives of the clerks of Carrara.
[Tales of marble. Renaissance sculpture in Liguria and Tuscany] The results of research conducted in the territory of the ancient diocese of Luni, aimed at finding the scattered elements of the marble decoration created for religious buildings in the region during the Renaissance. Thorough examination of the archive materials of the clerks of Carrara accompanied the field work, in which the author has visited many places of worship, from the cathedrals of the valley to isolated monasteries and chapels often only occasionally opened for services. The works catalogued are presented in this volume on Apuan sculpture in the 1400s and 1500s, with a fine selection of illustrations.
