A book that was lacking. A complete, thorough study of a fundamental part of the output of Mario Sironi, which the artist himself defined as “Grande Decorazione”. The monograph is the result of years of research on the part of a vast, qualified group of scholars. No previous studies of the artist have been based on such an impressive quantity of firsthand materials, including documentation never that has never been published. The wide-ranging investigation of the public works of Sironi, most of which are not familiar to art historians, the numberless new identifications and many discoveries lead to a new critical approach to the artist’s decorative work, incomparably enriching our knowledge of his career. The book includes several essays, full-color illustrations and sections, each devoted to one of Sironi’s monumental works.
