Omar Galliani. Notturno

Omar Galliani. Notturno

Recently donated to the Uffizi, the works Mantra, New Saints and Nocturne are being exhibited to the public as an exceptional event...

Three works in pencil by Omar Galliani
donated to the Cabinet of Drawings and
Prints of the Uffizi: Mantra (1999) and
New Saints (2007), both never shown before,
and Nocturne (2007), presented at the
Querini Stampalia foundation on the
occasion of the last Venice Biennale.
“The works I love most I have drawn at night.
At times the light is too strong and my eyes are
unable to see what they wish to see. Nocturne was
created at night on the terraces of two
different hotels remote from each other,
one in Viareggio, the other in Hong Kong.
Distant geographies for a work born in flight,
suspended between the lights night, like
airplanes at take-off and the lamps of fishermen
on the sea.”
