The story of a queen of Egypt, Nefertari, and her tomb: the starting point for in-depth analysis of Egyptian culture, and a tribute to Ernesto Schiaparelli.
Nefertari is a multi-faceted symbol in which we see reflected the beauty of the queen, the splendor of the dynasty of Ramses II, but also the perseverance of the archaeologist Schiaparelli, who discovered the tomb in 1904, and the importance of conservation, restoration and education. The catalogue, complete with exceptional images and thorough explanatory texts, illustrates certain aspects of the story of this queen of Egypt: analysis of the cultural context, the work of the archaeologists in the Valley of the Queens, the iconography of the mural paintings of Nefertari and the program of conservation of the tomb. The Appendix includes a plan of the tomb, a chronological table and a bibliography.
