A complete overview of the activity of one of the most famous families of artists, leading figures in Bolognese art in the 18th century.

[The Gandolfis / Frescoes, paintings, sketches, drawings] The volume illustrates the life and works of the Gandolfi family of painters, engravers and stucco craftsmen active in the 18th century, especially in the Emilia region.
In the works of the two brothers Gaetano (1728-1781) and Ubaldo (1734-1802) the decorative tradition still derived from the Baroque is attenuated in the luminous tones typical of the Venetian Settecento. Both brothers spent time in Venice, in fact, and returned with a new stylistic repertoire, each according to his character. The son of Gaetano, Mauro (1764-1834), after an initial period of painting, became an engraver. The author, after years of study, has gathered works and documents on the activities of this family in one book, revealing similarities and differences, formal affinities among different pictorial and expressive languages.
