Though rapid profiles, each of the lectures with its bibliography represents a useful contribution, going beyond the specialized field of architectural scholarship.
[10 masters of Italian architecture. Design lectures] Franco Albini, Luigi Carlo Daneri, Ignazio Gardella, Adalberto Libera, Carlo Mollino, Saverio Muratori, Giovanni Muzio, Ludovico Quaroni, Ernesto Nathan Rogers and Giuseppe Samonà are the protagonists of this volume, together with the Roman school as a whole, from the 1960s to the 1980s. The texts of eleven lectures accompanied by subsequent discussion with doctoral candidates. The selection has been made on the basis of those who taught architectural composition from the 1930s to the 1960s. Though these are rapid profiles, each of the lectures, with its bibliography, represents a useful contribution, going beyond the specialized field of architectural scholarship. Their collection in a single volume suggests comparisons within the overall panorama of Italian architecture often prevented by the practice of publishing only monographic studies.
