Le muse di Klimt
Paola Romagnoli
On Saturday 17 November 2018 at 6 pm at the Casa delle Donne, in Via Marsala 8, in Milan, as part of Bookcity 2018, the event “A(r)telier. Klimt’s Muses and the Art of Contamination” will be held. The theme of the event leads us from the pages of Paola Romagnoli’s book Le muse di Klimt (Electa), to the “rooms” and the material collages by the artist Chiara Corio, skimming the paths of inspiration. The most important room is the creation room, the physical space that painters of every era have celebrated and portrayed, the workshop in which identity and language are rooted. The book and the event are set 100 years after the death of Gustav Klimt at the end of the Viennese Modernism movement, which in turn was the precursor of a new wave of ideas in fashion, music, medicine, psychanalysis and architecture. This is the backdrop against which the most energetic female figures emerge, the women who were the symbols of a concrete form of emancipation far from any stereotype, assuming control of their passions. The muses that Klimt first and foremost recognised and understood, before he immortalised them in his paintings. Claudia Valeriani, Enea Astori, Chiara Corio, Anita Sonego, Filomena Rosiello, Angela Giannitrapani and Vittoria Longoni will participate in the panel.
