A monograph that analyzes the incredible structures - works of architecture, but also design objects - to reconstruct the complex research of this Spanish architect and engineer.

[Santiago Calatrava. Complete works] Santiago Calatrava Valls (Benimanet, Valencia 1951) is an architect and an engineer. Since the early 1980s he has worked on competitions and projects, and built about thirty major works, including bridges, stations, airports, exhibition complexes and interventions on an urban scale. The objective of the book – featuring color photographs, graphics and brilliant sketches – is to outline the contours of a heterodox career as a “constructor”, which makes Calatrava one of the most original figures in contemporary architecture. His commitment as a designer and structural engineer continues in parallel with constant theoretical research – supported by great skill as a draftsman – which has found expression in refined, disconcerting design objects and rigorous sculptural works. The book provides full documentation of these less familiar aspects of his work, viewing them as an integral part of his fertile research.
