S.U.P.E.R. Seven Unique Places to Experience in Rome

from 21 April 2018

The Parco archeologico del Colosseo is promoting a new itinerary that encompasses the Colosseum, the Forum, The Palatine Hill, the Neronian Cryptoporticus and the Palatine Museum, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the Roman world and its art thanks to new technologies and virtual narration.
The S.U.P.E.R., Seven Unique Places to Experience in Rome, is the ticket sold for the itinerary, offering a new and revolutionary sightseeing experience.
The Forum and Palatine Hill itinerary includes projections, lightmapping, voice narration, and new broadcasting devices, which allow guests to learn more about:
– Ancient Rome’s painting and subsequent intervention undertaken during the Byzantine era, the Middle-Ages and the Renaissance eras.
– The architecture of mansions and imperial palaces and their transformations over the centuries.
– The sculptures and embellishments that could be found in public, private and religious buildings.
The visitors who’ve bought the S.U.P.E.R ticket will have access to the Palatine Museum and the Neronian Cryptoporticus, however the access to certain areas will be limited, due to the fragility of the paintings and sculptures and because they are incapable of absorbing the high numbers of visitors that every year tour the Colosseum and its archaeological park.
This project allows visitors to discover areas that up until now were only accessible through guided tours or during temporary exhibitions- such as Santa Maria Antiqua and Romulus’s temple -, while others, such as the Loggia Mattei and the Aula Isaica are being opened to the public for the first time. Augustus’s and Livia’s homes will reopen and feature new multimedia apparatus which reveals the secrets of the extraordinary decorations and wall paintings. The Neronian Cryptoporticus and the Palatine Museum introduce and complete this articulated itinerary connecting some of the world’s most fascinating places.
