14 sep – 16 dec 2018, Rome
It is “time for” design, dance, music, theatre, films and photography at the Museo Nazionale Romano with a series of events, encounters and performances at Palazzo Altemps, the Baths of Diocletian and the Planetarium on every week until 24 June 2020. Promoted by the Museo Nazionale Romano, it is produced by Electa, with artistic direction by Cristiano Leone.
The Ō Tempo di festival at the Museo Nazionale Romano is back for a second time and with a new multidisciplinary formula. After visiting the monumental interiors of the Baths, their Renaissance cloisters and the octagonal hall of the Planetarium, this year the exhibition also ventures into Palazzo Altemps, a Renaissance dwelling featuring ancient sculptural masterpieces.
The Ō Tempo di festival features over 100 musicians, designers, actors, dancers, choreographers, filmmakers and international artists presenting site-specific works that forge a dialogue between the heritage and contemporary creation. Design professionals explore the role Rome played as a future hub of “historic” design and involve visitors in the design of objects and forms, conceived to stimulate and excite. All experiences will involve a shared creative process, amplified by the surrounding beauty and history.
The Ō Tempo di Festival at the Museo Nazionale Romano contains the Ō interjection to convey everything the Latin peoples condensed into this single letter: joy, sorrow, amazement and admiration. A promise of emotions and knowledge in a programme featuring 32 events.
Admission to the festival is free for the whole month of December then, in January, the Museo Nazionale Romano is launching an annual Card2020 on an experimental basis. This will, subject to availability, allow entry to Festival events and admission to the four Museo Nazionale Romano complexes: Palazzo Altemps plus the Baths of Diocletian, Palazzo Massimo and the Crypta Balbi.
