Gaspare Luigi Marcone

Gaspare Luigi Marcone graduated in History and Criticism of Art at the Università degli Studi di Milano where he also gained a PhD in Literary, Artistic and Environmental Heritage Sciences and collaborated in the Department of Art History.
Since 2015 he has been co-founder and Artistic Director of The Open Box - Milan. He has curated exhibitions and published critical texts on various artists of the 20th and 21st centuries for public museums, institutions and private galleries. His books include: Piero Manzoni. Scritti sull'arte, Abscondita, Milan 2013; Piero Manzoni. Diario, Electa, Milan 2013; Fontana, Baj, Manzoni 1958 - 2018, Carlo Cambi Editore, Poggibonsi - Siena 2018; Piero Manzoni: Writings on Art, Hauser & Wirth Publishers, Zürich 2019.
His recent institutional curatorial projects include: Lucio Fontana. Autoritratto (with S. Roffi, W. Guadagnini; Fondazione Magnani Rocca, Mamiano di Traversetolo - Parma, Silvana Editoriale, Cinisello Balsamo 2022); Piero Manzoni. Solo (Museo Novecento, Florence, Carlo Cambi Editore, Poggibonsi - Siena 2018).
He has contributed some entries to the Dizionario Lucio Fontana, edited by L.P. Nicoletti in collaboration with the Fondazione Lucio Fontana, Quodlibet, Macerata 2023. Since September 2024 he has been curator in residence at the Museo Carlo Zauli in Faenza.
