La Triennale di Milano. La Collezione permanente

Caption

La Collezione permanente is the second of three volumes retracing the history of the Triennale Design Collection. The project forms part of a series on Milan’s museums and galleries, the fruit of a consolidated partnership between Electa and Intesa Sanpaolo.

The La Triennale di Milano trilogy, launched in 2017 with Il Museo mutante, now continues with a book on the Museum’s permanent collection, formed in April 1997 and exhibited to the public on a continuous basis from 2019.

Composed of objects that have written the history of Italian design, the collection is not simply a body of works, it is a narration, a story and a memory store. The objects that accompanied our daily lives, lived in our homes and defined our domestic landscapes are inscribed with the history of all of us. The pieces in the Museum’s permanent collection may fall into a wide range of type categories (from furnishings to lighting, seating and office furniture) but all echo the spirit of the times, reflecting the dreams and needs of the period in which they were designed and produced.

The book illustrates the collection and its pieces, constituting a precious and previously unpublished repertoire of the icons of Italian design and which form part of the new Design Museum.
