For the first time in Italy the collection of the Fondation Jean e Suzanne Planque. More than a hundred works of paintings and draws, realized by some of the greatest artists of the first half of the nine-hundred.
The specific character of this collection is given not only by the presence of a number of masterpiecies by the greatest artists of the nine-hundred (Picasso, Dubuffet, Cézanne, Degas, Bonnard, Van Gogh, Rouault), but mostly by the rare coherence in every artwork that points out the keen choices operated by the collector. Of modest origins, Jean Planque was early passionated by painting and when he reached the economic success, his passion moved to collecting.
The fellowship with the gallerist Ernst Beyeler took him to happy commercial and personal choices: he established priviliged contacts with Picasso and Dubuffet, linking himself also to younger artists such as Giacometti, Tobey e Tapiès. During his long activity he could collect also works of Redon, Degas, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Dufy, Rouault, Braque, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Nicolas de Staël, Roger Bissière, Sam Francis and of many other artists
