The social, economic and archtectural transformation that has changed the face of the city through the story of the places that are the living symbol of the process. The Urban Center Metropolitano takes an indepth look at Turin as the 150th anniversary of Italian unification looms.
This exhibition is undoubtedly an important opportunity to evaluate the physical, social and economic changes that have taken place in Turin from the 1980s up to the present day, and take a look at the future, with Turin in 2011, the anniversary of the unification of Italy. It takes place in the ORG, Officine Grandi Riparazioni, (a fine example of industrial archaeology renovated for the occasion), and examines four places that are in some way symbolic of the new Turin, Spina tre, the Lingotto, Mirafiori and the historical centre of the city, explained in the catalogue as typical of the new social structures and microcosms of the city’s new cultural and economic stance.
