In the year of Asia, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary art in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Indian Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Maldivas. Completed by a special project of Dayanita Singh.
It’s not a simply “indexing” of contemporary art about the most populated country of the world, but a wide panoramic survey of the whole of people, ideas, culture, languages, life styles, popular beliefs and stories that cross the subcontinent. The deep changes make this geographic area a “subcontinent of contingencies”, a sub-contingent universe. The exhibition includes also artists that live outside subcontinent and use different media, representing their different cultural background. Most of them expose in Italy for the first time.
