Spazio Dalle collezioni d'arte e d'architettura del MAXXI

curated by Stefano Chiodi, Domitilla Dardi

Spazio

In this catalogue, the notion of Space is explored trough an assortment of inventions, hypotheses and interpretations that constitute the creative and intellectuale panorama of the exhibition.

Among its many planned activities, MAXXI will be organizing a series of exhibitions on particular themes with works from its own collection, together with a small selection of works on loan, chosen for their particular relevance to the topic in question. Each one of these exhibitions will have a particular topic which will act as a common thread. Each time the topic will be interpreted by different curators. For the long-awaited opening of the museum, which gives curators and staff of the museum the thrilling task of preparing the very first exhibition in the unusual space designed by the Iranian architect, the topic could not have been other than ‘Space’. Art and architecture are summoned to confront this encounter. The authors of the essays of the three sections are: Franco Purini and Eyal Weizman, Maurizio Vitta and Marco Belpoliti, Gilles Clément and Telmo Pievani, David Joselit and Giuliana Bruno. The curators of the art section are: Gabi Scardi, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Stefano Chiodi. The curators of the architecture section are: Domitilla Dardi, Pippo Ciorra and Alessandro D’Onofrio.
