The guidebook begins with 28 explanations narrated by designers of works in the Collection. The peculiarity of the interviews is that they were all conducted by telephone, taking a cue from Vico Magistretti’s comment: “I like concept design, the kind which is so clear you do not need to draw it. I have passed on plenty of my projects over the phone.” This also prompted the often relaxed, unprompted and “live” tenor of the texts.
They are followed by a summary of the works on display in the Triennale Museo del Design Italiano in chronological order. Forty-two of these are also accompanied by a brief account of their concept, history and materials.
