One of the major architects of the Twentieth Century: for his original research, Carlo Mollino cannot be associated with any particular artistic movement. The masterpiece showing his talent to the full is still the Società Ippica Torinese. Important works are also Palazzo degli Affari and the new Teatro Regio in Turin. For the interiors he created, Mollino designed also furniture, often biomorph. His extremely expressive approach to design, inspired by Futurism and Surrealism, was referred to as “Torinese Baroque” and considered as an antithesis to Milanese Rationalism.
