Eleven photographers, famous for their attention to the theme of urban landscape, reveal in a non-conventional way the construction site of MAXXI, the National Museum for the XXI century Arts in Rome.
This volume goes over the different phases of the construction of MAXXI through the eyes of eleven photographers: Olivo Barbieri, Antonio Biasiucci, Giovanni Chiaramonte, Paola De Pietri, Ramak Fazel, Vittore Fossati, Moreno Gentili, Guido Guidi, Andrea Jemolo, Raffaela Mariniello, Luciano Romano. The construction site brings about a new vision of the city: an ever-changing landscape that once didn’t exist and will soon disappear to leave room in 2008 for the elegant volume of the new Museum. These photographs – which will be included in MAXXI collections – have been prefaced by texts dealing with the theme of construction sites and their possible representations in the contemporary scenery as well as critical essays on the photographers’ work.
