Pieces never before exhibited to reconstruct a substantial and articulated cross-section of the historical depth of pre-Hispanic Peru, starting from a very special point of view: gold and its alloys.

The works presented (dating from the Chavín culture, 900 – 200 B.C., to the Incaic, 1440-1532) enable us to admire an immense array of symbols of power from ancient Peru: crowns, headdresses, diadems, masks, necklaces, earrings, breastplates and narigueras (nose ornaments). Antonio Aimi reveals the extraordinary artistic creativity of the pre-Columbian cultures, which not only succeeded in anticipate by twenty centuries many strands of modern art (from Minimalism to Surrealism, to confine ourselves to only some of the works presented in the exhibition), but were often capable of combining different styles and features in the same temporal horizon and at times in the same work. The exhibition is to be held on the occasion of VicenzaOro Autumn 2007 at the Vicenza trade fair.
