La divina proporzione. Triennale 1951

La divina proporzione. Triennale 1951

The records of "Convegno internazionale sulle proporzioni nelle arti", that took place at the Triennale di Milano in 1951

The concept of proportion, analyzed in all its aspects by Le Corbusier, Rogers, Zevi, Mollino, Dorfles, Gardella, Ackerman, Bill, Wittkover, Ghyka and many others. Nearly 30 accounts in three languages (Italian, English, French), most of which have never been published before, are presented following the thematic subdivision of the three days of the symposium: proportions in the history of thought and art; the mathematical fundamentals (proportions in architecture, technique and music); proportions and intuition in the arts.
Besides the accounts, the book comprises the correspondence for the organization of the symposium, from the programmatic enthusiasm to the final conclusions and a selection of images: the statements, the audience, the convivial moments, the exhibition of the studies on proportions, conceived as a visual counterpart to the congress
