The volume is the catalogue of the exhibition of the same name created by the artist for Palazzo Esposizioni in Rome (23 November 2024 – 30 March 2025). It brings together contributions, reflections and insights into the six extraordinary Tents and the Flags series, works that the artist united in a single major installation, completed by the large wall paintings Oceano di Storie, created directly on the walls of the exhibition space. A journey of exploration into the themes and imagery that characterise the artist’s course, to discover his nomadic soul.
The rich collection of illustrations in the volume gives an account of the wanderings of Francesco Clemente (Naples, 1952) between Italy, India and America and the photographs from his personal album accompany the story of the life as a nomad by vocation. The Indian and Oriental tradition is evoked by the images that render all the details of the installations gathered for Anima Nomade together with a brief illustrated biography giving an account of Clemente’s fundamental encounters, travels and projects.
The catalogue presents a conversation between the artist and the curator Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, together with texts by Jyotindra Jain, Jhumpa Lahiri, Barbara Radice, Emanuele Trevi, as well as Clemente himself.
