Felipe Assadi

The volume is devoted to the work of Chilean architect Felipe Assadi (1971), a leading figure in contemporary Latin American architecture, well known for his masterful blending of minimalist aesthetics and innovative structural solutions. His work is distinguished by an expressive use of materials such as concrete and glass, by which he creates architectures that seem to defy the laws of gravity, achieving an architectural expression that is both powerful and refined. Assadi’s work is also characterized by a close engagement with the landscapes in which his projects are inserted. His buildings blend in with their settings while maintaining an imposing, sculptural presence. The Chilean architect constantly plays with the concepts of weight and lightness, developing projects in which the built mass seems to defy the visual and structural equilibrium.

The volume is introduced by essays by Fabián Barros and Michelangelo Pivetta, who offer innovative interpretations of the direction and development of Assadi’s work. The structure of the volume documents a rich selection of Assadi’s works, each accompanied by technical details, plans and photographs. The monograph not only describes the works, but also explores the creative process and architectural challenges encountered during the construction of each building. Among those featured in the volume, in addition to the famous Hotel Awasi Patagonia, there are numerous private residences, including the Schmitz House, H House and Caruz House, which embody, more than any other, his distinctive style made up of monolithic forms and transparencies that dissolve the boundaries between interior and exterior.
