Buenos Aires, Palais de Glace, 13 – 24 July 1999. A program of cultural cooperation promoted by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities of Italy and the Secretary of Culture of the Republic of Argentina has created new opportunities to reinforce the links of friendship that connect the two countries. These included two exhibitions on two authors whose literary paths seem to be joined by a single thread: Jorge Luis Borges and Italo Calvino, narrators whose imagination has contributed to the “continuous self-construction of the universe”, leaving a unique mark on 20th-century culture. This is the catalogue of the documentary exhibition on Italo Calvino held in Buenos Aires at the same time as another exhibition on Jorge Luis Borges held in Venice. It contains 133 rare images of the writer’s private life, encounters, travels, honors.
