Photographs from the VII Photo Agency. Direct images that capture our contemporary world: Ground Zero, Afghanistan, the Middle East.
From 11 September 2001 to April 2002, 7 photographers of the new VII agency documented world events in the wake of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York. The result is a volume containing – thanks to the extemporaneous, merciless gaze of the camera’s lens – a complex series of events that changed the world with their intricate political, economic and religious repercussions. After bearing witness to what happened in Manhattan, the book features images from the months to follow: the American offensive in Afghanistan, the anti-American demonstrations in Pakistan and Kashmir, tensions in the Middle East and the occupied territories in Israel. Images of great impact, without aesthetic frills, narrating a reality experienced firsthand in dramatic but also poetic tableaux.
