"Basically the architect's task is this movement from geometry to space, materials, openings, actions in which the designer's control becomes decisive."

[Carlos Ferrater. Works and projects] The first Italian monograph on Carlos Ferrater (Barcelona, 1944), winner in 2001 of the Premio Nacional de Arquitectura Española, this book documents the work of the Catalan architect from 1991 to the present, when traditional output has been joined by commissions of great impact on the Spanish territory, and on an international level.
In the interview by Antonio Pizza with Carlos Ferrater that opens the volume, Language interests me less and less, the most significant works are discussed, bringing out their relationships with historical precedents and the choices that have led to the construction of the buildings.
The catalogue of works covers about twenty projects by Ferrater, including the yacht club in Girona (1988-91), the convention center in Barcelona (1996-99), different residential projects, also in Barcelona, and the very recent building of J.C. Decaux in Madrid (1998-2001). A complete listing of works is also included.
