The first monograph about Carlo Colombo, one of the most prolific Italian designers to emerge on the scene. The bilingual volume looks at his designs for leading Italian brands.
Colombo is the new face of Italian design. He has designed hundreds of products for leading brands and the monograph examines his career looking at a selection of his designs, which have been divided into three different sections: Design (with more than 60 designs), Interiors (12 designs) and Architecture (6 designs). In fact, Colombo’s work ranges in a coherent way from the invention of simple objects to the design of complex systems, including interior design for houses and show-rooms, layouts, and architectural designs for projects in the Brianza, where he comes from, and the Arab Emirates. Since1996, he has also lectured on industrial packaging, participating in conferences all over the world. Carlo Colombo expresses himself with a style made up of pure forms, with an obvious preference for simple materials which are always new and on the cutting edge in terms of technological solutions. He employs the same coherence to design houses, layouts, exhibitions and showrooms. He endows all of them with his own personal method of creating design, based on precision and attention to detail. The book demonstrates his considerable talent, which is also acknowledged in the introductions by Giulio Cappellini and Gilda Bojardi. The monograph looks at his designs for leading Italian brands, including Antonio Lupi, Arflex, Poliform, Cappellini, de Padova, Artemide and Guzzini.
