From design to construction: the student residence of the University of Florence, quality architecture as a first step to promoting the right to education.

Accompanied by all the drawings that enable the reader to understand the architectural and structural conception of the building, as well as a broad selection of photographs taken by Pietro Savorelli, the book by Marco Mulazzani presents the Campus Firenze, one of the most challenging works built by the Florentine Ipostudio practice. Commissioned by the University of Florence in 2015, on a site covering 12,800 square meters, the complex houses the residences for the students of the University.

As Marco Mulazzani explains, it is a unusual project, likely to be taken as a model for the increasingly urgent initiatives that should be carried out in Italy to promote the right to education. In this respect, it is significant that the Florentine designers, having divided the complex into two separate buildings, inserted a new public space between them and conceived the volumes by using an essential vocabulary, without forgetting that in this sector, although neglected by architectural production, Italian design culture has produced innovative and universally recognized models.
