Brera mai vista presents the restoration of the panel by Albert Sotio depicting Maria Regina (Mary crowned as queen of Heaven) executed around 1187.

The introduction is by Mary Teresa Fiorio. Alessio Monciatti’s essay sums up the history and critique of the panel, and acknowledges the great interest aroused by this work that was painted on a sheet of parchment and then fixed to a walnut panel, the same technique used for the famous Crucifix in Spoleto Cathedral. Then it gives a critical review of Alberto Sotio and the Umbrian painting of that century.
The panel of the Madonna Di Ambro is also presented, which has many features similar to the aforementioned panel. A detailed list of works, the description of the restoration of the painting and the bibliography complete the volume.
