The works include those of important period photographers like Alinari, Brogi, Naya, Sommer, pictures by Sacchi and Pozzi, and many masterpieces by Bonfils, Robertson & Beato, Frères, Sadic Bay.
The volume, with essays on Lombard photography in the 1800s and the history of the gallery, offers knowledge of a collection of fundamental importance for the history of Italian and European photography, and represents one of the first results of the work of cataloguing and restoration of the gallery’s holdings.
