Baratti e Milano Una storia del gusto a Torino

Baratti e Milano

Established in Turin in 1858 from the partnership between Edoardo Milano and Ferdinando Baratti, Baratti&Milano is a trademark with an ancient flavour, which we have always recognised in tin boxes, classic sweets and cremines that were created in the company’s laboratories.

The historic café opened in 1875 in the Galleria dell’Industria Subalpina and became a favoured meeting place for politicians, intellectuals, artists, musicians and writers. The story comes to life among its tables and entwined with the ancient recipes of Savoyard patisserie to be savoured at the tables and with cocktails served at the counter.

Baratti&Milano coffee is still much loved by the people of Turin and travellers, who come to sip the hot chocolate, the characteristic bicerin, a Vermouth with a long tradition behind it or some conversation drinks that were already served between 1858 and 1930. Moving through the memories of over a century, the book accompanies the reader to discover the art of confectioners, liqueur-makers and brandy distillers, providing recipes for the finest desserts and chocolates to be made at home, preserved in the Baratti&Milano archives.
