This is the first monograph dedicated to Aron Demetz, one of the protagonists of the new Italian sculpture scene, within the sphere of the Italian Factory project. The introduction is by Vittorio Sgarbi.
Born in 1972 at Vipiteno, Demetz lives in Selva di Val Gardena, where he learned the technique of wood sculpture from local craftsmen. He is considered one of the leading exponents of the new Italian sculpture that pivots on the rediscovery of traditional languages, and has revolutionized the medium in recent years.
This volume, in Italian, English and German, contains about fifty colour illustrations and as many in black and white, and opens with a critical appraisal by Vittorio Sgarbi, who has followed the sculptor’s work for some time and included him in the travelling exhibition ‘Alla ricerca dell’identità. Da Antonello a De Chirico e altri’. There is also an interview with the sculptor by art critic Alessandro Riva.
