Enrica Viganò

Enrica Viganò is an independent curator, art critic and journalist with ample experience in the field of photography, including the management of the Galleria Il Diaframma Kodak Cultura from 1992 to 1997. In 1997 she founded ADMIRA, a studio in Milan specializing in the conception and organization of exhibitions and events for the world of photography. 2003 saw the addition of the publishing house ADMIRA EDIZIONI.
Through ADMIRA, Enrica established a network of collaborations both in Italy and internationally. In 1998 she began a rewarding experience with PHotoEspaña and since 2001 she has directed the nine editions of FOTO&PHOTO, an international photography festival held in Cesano Maderno, near Milan. That same year she was also entrusted with the artistic direction of ClicArt - a gallery dedicated to emerging talents in Fine Art photography, sponsored by the Zucchi textile industry and by the Marka agency. She directed the gallery for the next five years, promoting greater visibility for photography in this field and boosting new careers. Enrica has been a member of the MIA Advisory Committee - Milan Image Art Fair - since its first edition and has also devised a new concept of portfolio reading focused on CODICE MIA collecting.
Enrica Viganò has curated dozens of exhibitions, many of which have travelled to international venues, including the personal exhibitions of Edward Burtynsky, Mario Giacomelli, Luigi Ghirri, Chema Madoz, Duane Michals, Eugene Smith (short-listed for the Lucie Awards), Lewis Hine, Miroslav Tichy, Virxilio Vieitez, Robert Frank and Saul Leiter. Other exhibitions include Photo League: New York 1936-1951, Fashion Written by Light, Up Close Nobody Is Normal on the subject of madness and the great research NeoRealismo. The New Image in Italy 1932-1960).
Since 2005 she is a member of Oracle, the international association of photography curators, which members include the most important museums and institutions in the sector worldwide.
A member of the National Order of Journalists since 2000, she has written articles for specialist and non-specialist magazines as well as editing numerous publications, including Photo League: New York 1936-1951
