Francesco Venezia

Francesco Venezia (b. Lauro, 1944), architect and professor, graduated in Architecture in 1970 in Naples and started his professional and teaching career in 1971 with Carlo Cocchia. Since 1987 he has taught Architectural Composition in Genoa and since 1993 in Venice. In 1988 he was visiting professor at the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University, in 1989 Professeur Invité at the École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne. He holds the Silver Medal of the President of the Republic for his distinguished work in the field of culture. He has designed countless private and public buildings, including the Museum in Gibellina (1981-87); the Piccolo giardino in Gibellina (1984-87); the urban restoration in San Pietro a Patierno, Naples (1988-99); the University Library and the University Law and Economics Campus in Amiens, France (1993-97); the Laboratorio Prove Materiali of the IUAV in Mestre (1995-2002), as well as staging important exhibitions. He has been a member of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca since 1998
