Temporalità e permanenza Sculture di María Lagunes

Caption

The catalogue accompanies the exhibition Temporalità e permanenza. Sculture di María Lagunes, presented in the Mausoleum of Cecilia Metella in the Appia Antica Archaeological Park from December 13, 2018 to May 1, 2019.
Musician and interior designer, engraver and illustrator, sculptor and passionate photographer: María Lagunes’s career spans the past century between Mexico and Europe and even today she crams her bronzes and densely drawn papers with the same vitality and energy.

The universality of María Lagunes and her many artistic languages were destined to meet and merge with a monumental complex rich in cultural experiences through the centuries like that of the Appia Antica, which today hosts a significant selection of her works.

María Lagunes’ sculptures are now preserved in many public and private collections around the world and her works have been the subject of numerous exhibitions, not only in Mexico, but also in France, Spain, Italy and the United States.

The catalogue with essays by Rita Paris and Antonella Greco explores, respectively, the universality of the artist’s sculptural language and her formative development, as well as her relationships with artists and places, including the spaces of the Mausoleum in which the exhibition is installed. The works exhibited are fully illustrated in colour. The apparatus includes critical notes, a biography, a list of exhibitions and a bibliography.
