An intense biography, in which the literary quality and narrative style of Eleonora Giorgi are by no means of secondary importance.
In a game of flashbacks, starting off with the arrest of her first husband Angelo Rizzoli, Eleonora Giorgi looks backwards and in the mirror to tell the story of her unusual and eventful life right up until the present day. In this, she recounts with disconcerting frankness and a rare and precious lucidity, certain private and professional episodes and situations which, although at times are somewhat risqué, are most revealing. Indeed, over the course of time, her personal story intersects with the lives of many people coming from the world of culture and the Italian ruling class – from cinema to journalism, art, entrepreneurship, and literature – about whom she sketches brief recollections. She also talks about the change in customs and morals, the emancipation of women and the dramatic political and judicial events which engulfed her husband’s publishing house and her life.
