The use of glass in the fields of furniture design and architecture: international architects and designers conduct research on "everyday" uses for glass.

[Aperto vetro 2000 / Designed glass. Architects and designers meet everyday glass] The exhibition “Aperto vetro”, in its third edition, was held in Venice, a city renowned for the working of glass. The guise and intent of the show, however, were new. It contained works by leading international architects and designers interested in an “everyday” use of glass, in close connection to interior design, as an integral part of the decor.
The essays contained in the catalogue explain the innovative qualities of this research on the use of glass in the fields of furniture design and architecture.
Among the contemporary protagonists, outstanding names like Alvar Aalto, Sergio Asti, Gae Aulenti, Toni Cordero, Philippe Starck, Ettore Sottsass, Tapio Wirkkala.
