On Monday evenings, the Museo Nazionale Romano, in collaboration with Electa, is opening the Baths of Diocletian for an unmissable summer season.
On 10, 17, 24 and 31 July, hugely celebrated arias from the great classical repertoire will be playing in Aula VIII, the ancient hall overlooking the Natatio pool, with its surviving portion of the monumental facade.
The Diocleziano all’Opera programme is curated by the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. Composer, pianist and musicologist Giovanni Bietti will present the themes for the four evenings and accompany the young performers of the Fabbrica Young Program, who will play the arias.
On these four evenings, the ancient bath spaces will be open to visitors, as too the so-called Chiostro Piccolo and the Chiostro Grande of the Certosa of the Basilica di Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri, traditionally attributed to Michelangelo.
